Birthday Shenanigans

Hi folks! I am sitting here in the airport awaiting my flight to LA to celebrate my big 4-0 with my cousin and I’m nervous and anxious (I am not the best at taking flights alone) so I thought I’d write!

My day started off this morning when my alarm went off at 5:30am. I was so excited like a little kid last night, I couldn’t sleep. But I was up! Bright eyed and bushy tailed as my mom used to say, only to see a text that read “FLIGHT CANCELLED”. What the heck. This was not happening. Luckily, I reached out to Southwest and got the next available flight to LA. WOOT WOOT!

I got up, got dressed and walked out the door ready for my car ride to the airport. AS we drive through the hills and I admire the beautiful views I get to see on a daily, I started contemplating. You know when you leave your house before a long trip and you’re like “I swear I forgot something”. That was me. We are about an hour and a half away from the airport. So as we’re driving I’m just going through my checklist…toiletries? Check. Disney ears (cuz I can’t forget my special ears made just for this day from my friend, Leanna)? Check. Clothes? Check. ID? Check. What am I forgetting??? What is something a girl never forgets? I got my makeup, I got my important stuff BUT MY FREAKIN HAIR BRUSH! Haha. I was more concerned about forgetting my Disney ears that I didn’t take into consideration that even though my ears are super cute, my hair wouldn’t be because I forgot my brush! Good lord. Messy pony’s will be the signature style this week. But those ears will be on POINT! Haha

So now I am here, at the airport, enjoying a delicious breakfast at San Jose Joe’s and writing to all of you. My youngest daughter is going on something called “Age of Sails” next week with her class. It’s an overnight stay on a boat where they each have duties…honestly, I don’t know what it’s all about other than I thought it would be fun for her to try out. So this morning I’m handed a paper that says “Please write a letter to your child as though it was 1906 and your child has been away from home for a year.” Oh Lordy…attached is a sample letter which they kindly ask us not to duplicate haha. Details history. At first I looked at my hubby and was like, “cant you do this?” But I took the sheet thinking, when I’m in a creative frame of mind, I love to write and I get into this awesome flow. So just do it! What is this doing to you that would make you be all bah humbug about it? Hahaha….ok folks, I am so not a history buff. I know I should know who our Presidents were and when they served their terms and what important events happened in our country through the years. I do know a lot, especially current events, however, quiz me on any of it and I’m like 😳 But, quiz me about the history of makeup, that’s a whole other story. So, I sit with my cup of coffee and try my best at creating a letter for my daughter to read on her “tour”. Haha…she may find a great laugh at it since I used a lot of the craziness that happens in our house on a daily and turned it into all of the craziness on “our farm”. We shall see. I do think that she’ll just enjoy the letter while she’s on her little boat and I think she’ll have such an awesome time.

This ends my post for now, but I will be sharing all the amazing memories we create over the next couple days. I hope you all find yourselves on a beautiful smooth flowing day. And remember, “Don’t stress over things you can’t control.” If something negative happens, or you find yourself upset over little things like I was, remember that you have another day to breathe in, enjoy the sights and be with the ones you love. Let it go and laugh about these little mishaps. Especially if they’re beyond your control.

Have an amazing day….

Scenery on my way to the airport and my ears and T-shirt I could not leave behind haha
