This past week, I was blessed to be surrounded by some incredibly talented and inspiring artists. One of the questions asked to a few of the artists was “What does Beauty mean to you?” Which lead me to think about what beauty meant to me.
To me, Beauty isn’t just about makeup and how you look. It goes much deeper. Beauty is confidence. It’s embracing your imperfections, knowing that every mark, freckle and wrinkle is perfectly you. Beauty is knowing that you are Enough.
Being surrounded by so many talented people, hearing their stories made me realize that no matter how many times life knocked them down, they got right back up and did it again. Some did it scared. But they did it and because they never gave up, they gained success. They made their dreams come true and are now living a life they desired. Beauty is inspiring others to go for their dreams and never giving up no matter how hard it may be.
Beauty is taking time for yourself. Reflecting on where you are, where you’ve been and where you are going. When you run yourself ragged trying to please everyone, you lose making an impact on anyone. Saying “no” so you are not overwhelmed is not a selfish thing. When you say no, you are recognizing your need to rest. You are being respectful to yourself and your feelings so you can regain the strength you need to stay passionate. Take time to reflect and to breathe. “You can’t be everything to everyone. But you can be something great to someone.” Even if that someone is you.
Beauty is never letting go of who you truly are. In a world where we are constantly judged and criticized, it’s hard not to lose you. Never lose you. You are enough. You are beautiful. You are deserving, worthy and loved. Keep true to yourself and the world will be everything you desire.
Beauty is all around us. Open your eyes and take it all in. It is such an amazing thing when your views of what beauty is doesn’t just reflect how a person looks. Take a minute and think about it. What is beauty to you?
